Vinous Neal Martin - 02 Oct 25
The 2024 Peter Max contains some whole bunch Pinot Noir and is aged in used oak for 11 months. It has a straightforward but expressive, slightly earthy nose that opens nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sour cherry and orange rind notes on the entry. Decent structure, though maybe it just needs a little more flesh on the finish. Still, it will give several years' drinking pleasure.

South Africa

South African wines blend Old World elegance with New World fruit-forwardness, offering diverse styles from regions like Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek. The country is famous for Pinotage, a unique grape producing bold, earthy wines with dark berry and smoky notes. South Africa also excels in Chenin Blanc, both crisp and oak-aged. Stellenbosch is renowned for Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Top producers include Kanonkop (Pinotage), Hamilton Russell (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir), and Klein Constantia (Vin de Constance).
