Bringing up the rear is no less than the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru from Domaine Georges Roumier. This vintage was actually missing from the vertical a few months ago, so it is a pleasure to revisit. Raspberry and wild strawberry on the nose that is bolder than expected. The 2012 eventually calms down and reveals more mineralité. The palate is still relatively backward with grippy tannins, suggesting that it might benefit from another couple of years in bottle. Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
