Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Jul 16
Conterno’s 2005 Barolo Cascina Francia has developed in a very pretty, delicate wine. Open-knit and supple, the 2005 offers good depth and vibrancy to match its silky, nuanced personality. The 2005 is an especially polished Cascina Francia that is just entering the early part of its plateau of maturity. Interestingly, it is also the total stylistic opposite of the much more virile Monfortino.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
