The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Grands Liards opens in the glass with aromas of smoky blackberries, red berries, spices and soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural palate that's rich, concentrated and sapid, reflecting the habitual profile of this reliably broad-shouldered, age-worthy cuvée.

The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Grands Liards works much better on the nose than the regular Savigny Village, presenting pretty red cherries and mulberry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins. This is fresh and citric in style, with a pointed orange rind-infused finish. Enjoy this over four to seven years.

Cask sample. Juicy and vegy with lots of whole-bunch influence – too much? (JR)
