Jean-Louis Chave - Exceptional Hermitage and St Joseph

Jean-Louis Chave is descended from one of the oldest wine families in the Northern Rhone, dating all the way back to 1481. Since then, they have built up their holdings on the Hermitage hill to 15 hectares, including seven hectares in the appellation's top lieux-dits. The multiple components are vinified using traditional methods and aged separately, then blended during the second spring after the vintage. It is this careful blending that makes the Chave Hermitage so unique, and so complete: Jean-Louis Chave looks for the perfect mixture of fruit, spice, and tannin. The finished wine has the force and virility of Hermitage, but also great delineation of flavour and refinement.
