2009 - Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Georges Mugneret Gibourg

Healthy medium red. Rich, deep aromas of raspberry, dried flowers, earth, menthol and exotic spices. Plush, opulent and deep; in fact, remarkably full in the mouth for a wine from this cellar. The very intense flavors of red cherry, strawberry, raspberry, mocha, licorice and soil are enlivened by an iodiney salinity and given added sex appeal by a note of cardamom and an almost caramel-like sweetness. Really echoes and rises on the broad finish, which features ripe, dusty tannins and explosive lingering fruit. A very sunny vintage, noted Marie-Andrée. Like the 2015, this will age for a long time on its sheer stuffing, but this wine is more supple today. Incidentally, prior to 2009, when the name of the estate was officially changed, the Clos Vougeot was bottled under the Domaine Georges Mugneret label.
