Roumier's 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière is beginning to drink beautifully. Offering up aromas of sweet red fruits, blackcurrants, spices, orange rind and espresso roast, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent mid-palate density, integrated acids and chalky structuring tannins that are beginning to melt into the background.

Bright, dark red-ruby. Dark berry aromas are complicated by musky earthy nuances. Concentrated, energetic wine with a chewy, tactile mouthfeel to its dark fruit flavors; fresh acidity gives it excellent inner-mouth tension. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins and building length. Very successful, solidly structured wine.

Monopole. More than 2 ha. South of Morey. Very Morey and lots of clay. Dense and vibrant chock full of dark fruit with a fair amount of leathery tannins. Lots of sinew as well as flesh. Very satisfying. Lots of energy. (JR)
