Good medium-deep red. Superripe, slightly high-toned nose shows less verve than a barrel sample I tried a year ago. Big and rich in the mouth, with a hint of menthol coolness to go along with the very ripe impression. Totally different from the same cuvee from the 2010 vintage: distinctly less tactile and clinging. Will this gain in complexity with bottle aging? Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins. From a well-drained, warm vineyard.
