Guido Porro's 2010 Barolo V. Lazzairasco shows a plump and juicy personality that is characteristic of Serralunga d'Alba. The wine exhibits depth and persistence with generous tones of barbecue smoke, spice and dark fruit. Tertiary aromas of tar and licorice give the wine an extra sense of kick and energy. If you enjoy a full and more generous style of Barolo, this wine is for you. There's a touch of tangy clove or toasted cardamom on the close.

Pale ruby. Sweet, high-toned. Actually rather gentler than most. A real charmer. Candied rose petals with so much fruit that the tannins are almost hidden. Dramatic and charming. (JR)
