Bright red-ruby. Superripe, slightly high-toned aromas of strawberry, raspberry, spice cake and mint. Large-scaled, sweet and deep; thick but bright and sharply delineated. Extravagant but youthfully backward flavors of candied fruits, mace and nutmeg. This has superb depth of fruit for the vintage. Finishes with thoroughly sweet tannins and outstanding length. A very strong 2000 that I significantly underrated a year ago.
