Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Aug 23
The 2010 Durfort-Vivens has impressive intensity on the nose with scents of blackberry, cedar, allspice and graphite, so that it develops and almost Pauillac-like personality with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation and acidity. This completely shades preceding vintages of the decade, not a powerful Margaux and yet very well balanced with admirable purity on the finish. This is drinking supremely well at this moment but should give another 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. Tasted at the Durfort-Vivens dinner at Portland restaurant.

Margaux Fine Wines

Margaux

Margaux, in Bordeaux, France, is renowned for producing some of the world’s most elegant red wines. Margaux wines are characterised by floral notes of violet and rose, red and black fruits like cherry and blackcurrant, refined tannins, a silky texture, and a complex, long finish. The region's gravelly soil enhances grape concentration. Top producers include Château Margaux, known for its finesse and ageing potential; Château Palmer, recognized for its rich, aromatic wines; and Château Rauzan-Ségla, celebrated for its elegant precision.
