Vinous David Schildknecht - 01 Jan 18
This originates in a portion of the Schubertslay where the slight shading effect of that site’s signature rock outcropping is more influential than its capacity for storing heat (which naturally rises as it gets released). It leads hauntingly with scents of just-ripe honeydew melon and apple garlanded in chamomile, mint and tarragon. The soothingly smooth palate follows suit with luscious juiciness and cooling herbal inflections. A mouthwatering abundance of maritime salinity segues on the bell-clear, sensationally sustained finish into a sweet, mineral evocation of raw scallop. There is tenderness, levity and infectious drinkability to this “little” gem that renders it irresistible.
