Brilliant ruby-red. A highly perfumed bouquet features fresh, mineral-tinged red berry liqueur, lavender and incense scents, and mineral and Asian spice flourishes add complexity. Pliant and seamless on the palate, showing a superb blend of density and energy to the sweet Chambord, cherry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors. Fine-grained, building tannins give shape to the strikingly long, vibrant finish, which emphatically echoes the red fruit and floral notes.

60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Counoise, 10% Cinsault. From three parcels at high elevation with less sand and 60% limestone, 40% clay. Cask sample. Medicinal, lifted, aromatic and yet there is a lot of fruit density on the nose too. Delicious bramble fruit with a just-picked freshness. Very firm but fine, sandy tannic grip. Powerful and long-lived. (RH)
