Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2017 is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It delivers notes of crushed blackcurrants, kirsch, and raspberry pie, plus suggestions of dried herbs, tobacco, and fallen leaves. The medium-bodied palate has chewy tannins and plenty of bright acidity to support the muscular red fruit, finishing with an herbal lift.

The 2017 Les Fiefs de Lagrange has a refined bouquet with perfumed red cherry and wild strawberry aromas, touches of cedar following through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, bright and vivid with a dash of spice towards the pure and quite persistent finish. It comes highly recommended and represents outstanding value for the money.

Tasted blind. Mid ruby colour. Sweet pastries, plummy roasted fruit. Easy-going and forward, this is charming and ready to go. The tannins are soft and approachable, with bright acidity to cut through for a high-toned finish. Not profound, but an enjoyable style to drink over the next decade. (TP)
