Vinous Neal Martin - 12 Dec 23
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has a very pure bouquet of maraschino cherries, blueberry, white pepper and subtle undergrowth aromas. This is quintessential Chambolle—more succinct than Camille Giroud’s Les Borniques. The palate is medium-bodied and succulent, but it doesn't quite deliver the panache that is exhibited aromatically. High-toned and a little honeyed in texture, it requires a bit more tension on the structured finish. I suspect it will improve with bottle age, though there are better Chambolle Premier Crus this vintage. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
