Burlotto's Acclivi is from their best plots and oldest vineyards in Verduno and is beautifully described on their website as 'a liquid postcard from Verduno'. It is produced only when the quality is good enough. The 2018 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Acclivi has aromas of strawberry coulis, a hint of incense, exotic spice and delicate violet notes that come and go. With more substance and concentration than their classic Barolo, this wine is concentrated but not heavy. It is sheer pleasure to drink with a lovely texture - super-silky, harmonious and refined. The very fine tannins are hardly present. There is a lovely freshness, fragrance and silkiness. Beautiful.

The 2018 Barolo Acclivi is a Verduno blend from Monvigliero, Neirane and Rocche Olmo. Creamy and layered in the glass, with terrific persistence and fine balance, the Acclivi is an absolute delight in 2018. Red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, spice, lavender and macerated cherry build nicely over time. The Acclivi is sometimes overlooked in this range, which is a shame as it is a terrific wine.
