The 2021 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru contains much more reduction on the nose but there is real intensity here with mineral-rich citric fruit and just hints of bay leaf and thyme. Stunning delineation. The palate is beautifully balanced with lip-smacking salinity, very intense, almost penetrating in style with a long and quite enthralling finish. Fabulous. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
