Vinous Antonio Galloni - 30 Nov 22
The 1982 Clos des Goisses L.V., from a recent disgorgement (March 2022), is superb. Lemon confit, dried herbs, mint, dried almond, lemon confit and earthy notes all run though this super-expressive Champagne. Time has been very kind to the 1982. It captures much of what makes Champagne so special, namely the ability to age and yet remain vibrant. Readers who can find it should not hesitate, as it is truly special. Disgorged: March, 2022.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
