Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Jan 14
The 2010 Barolo Mariondino is quite pretty. Dark red cherries, plums, dried flowers, new leather and spices flesh out in a racy, expressive Barolo with lovely mid-palate pliancy and depth. The Mariondino has a bit more depth than the straight Barolo, which serves to balance the whole clusters nicely. The 2010 closes up pretty quickly in the glass and is likely headed for a long period of dormancy. This is another fascinating, intriguing Barolo from Marco Parusso.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
