Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 14
(just one barrel made in 2012): Good bright red. Cooler aromas of black fruits and flowers. Intensely flavored and light on its feet, but in a distinctly imploded stage. This juicy, tightly wound wine is downright rigorous today. If the Brulees is a horizontal wine, this is vertical. Racy acidity gives it a slightly spiky impression. I would have guessed this wine was made with stems but in fact Grivot, who does not believe in vinifying whole clusters, used a good percentage of uncrushed berries in the fermentation.
