Vinous Neal Martin - 17 Jan 24
The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Aux Charmes Grand Cru has just a little more volatility on the nose compared to the other cuvées. That doesn't bother me, but it doesn't quite deliver the complexity I found on the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied, and the 100% new oak is a little dominant on the mid-palate, disguising the 80% whole clusters. It just feels a bit driven by the winemaking at the moment. Let's see how this ages in bottle.
