Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 30 Jan 25
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is rich and creamy, delivering aromas of sweet cassis, berries, burning embers and spices, framed by a touch of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a ripe core of fruit and supple tannins, it will offer a broad drinking window.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is a little perplexing on the nose, earthier than expected, and perhaps missing the cohesion that I found on the Côte de Nuits. The palate is more promising, with firm tannins that impart backbone, dark berry fruit laced with graphite, fine depth and more harmony toward the finish. There is just a hint of espresso in the background here. Drink over the next three to ten years.

Gevrey-Chambertin Fine Wine

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing powerful Pinot Noir wines, often called the "King of Burgundy." These wines are known for bold flavours, complex aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrants, truffles, and spices, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential. The appellation includes nine Grand Cru vineyards, notably Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Top producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier, and Domaine Denis Mortet craft wines that reflect the unique terroir and tradition of Gevrey-Chambertin.
