The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes has also turned out beautifully, offering up a gently reductive bouquet of crisp orchard fruit, toasted almonds, white flowers and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's racy and pure, with a layered, complete profile.

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Chenevottes 1er Cru has a slightly reductive bouquet but there is fine concentration coiled up here. The palate is well balanced with clementine and nectarine notes and fresh acidity, but perhaps it doesn't quite "kick on" like other cuvées—possibly due to that hail damage?

Cask sample. Mid lemon. Ripe, richer fruit on the palate after the Chassagne Vieilles Vignes – mature apple and a touch of ripe peach. Zesty, fresh acidity and a mealy finish. (MH)
