Tasting Notes

93-95
Vinous Neal Martin - 17 Jan 24
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a fulsome bouquet with perfumed red berry fruit and a touch of clove and crushed stone—quite complex and gaining intensity with aeration. The medium-bodied palate has a svelte opening, blackberry and raspberry mixed with cumin and white pepper, gaining depth towards the finish whilst maintaining focus and precision. This is very promising. Excellent.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 18 Jan 24
Aromas of cherries, vine smoke, spices, orange zest and sweet soil tones preface the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers, a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy wine with melting tannins, succulent acids and a saline, mouthwatering finish.

Cask sample. Mid ruby. Clean, fresh nose of ripe raspberry and dark cherry. Fine, fresh acidity well integrated into a solid fruit-filled palate. Quite firm with feisty, but integrated powdery tannins. Good length. (MH)

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing powerful Pinot Noir wines, often called the "King of Burgundy." These wines are known for bold flavours, complex aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrants, truffles, and spices, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential. The appellation includes nine Grand Cru vineyards, notably Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Top producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier, and Domaine Denis Mortet craft wines that reflect the unique terroir and tradition of Gevrey-Chambertin.
