Cotes de Nuits
The Northern part of the Cote d’Or, the Cotes de Nuits, is named after the little town of Nuits St Georges. The Cotes de Nuits is known for the most glorious red wines (Pinot Noir) and very occasionally white wines (Chardonnay & Aligote). The Cote stretches from the north in the town of Dijon down the D974 to the town of Beaune, with most of the famous vineyards grouped to the north and the south of the region, known for its generic Cotes de Nuits Villages wines. The villages and vineyards of Vosne Romanee, Morey St Denis, Chambolle Musigny, Gevrey Chambertin & Nuits St Georges are the stars of the Cote.
