Another rich and varied wine region, spanning a vast area in central Southern France. Famous for its large production of generic Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf du Pape, there's also a plethora of smaller appellations producing beautiful wines such as Cote Rotie, Condrieu, Cornas, Gigondas, and Lirac. Permitted grape varieties in the Northern crus include Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne and in the South, there are an additional 26 varieties such as Carignan, Grenache, and Uni Blanc.
