Virgile Lignier regards this vineyard as the quintessential premier cru of the appéllation. The 2015 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Faconnières, which includes 40-50% whole bunches, has a very complex and sophisticated bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, very precise and detailed with black cherries, raspberry preserve, dried rose petals and tangible cold stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity that imbues this premier cru with heightened harmony and focus. It ""flows"" towards the finish with wonderful tension and frisson on the finish. This is an outstanding Morey-Saint-Denis from Virgile.
