The 2014 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is surprisingly rounder and riper than the 2013 edition of this same wine. The fruit ripeness feels more successful and balanced in the case of this wine. Tobacco, truffle and dark fruit emerge from the bouquet with immediate intensity. This is a good near or medium-term Barolo with mid-weight appeal and soft, fruity endnotes.

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
