The 2018 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is quite intense and well-defined on the nose: mineral-driven yellow fruit, touches of mint and orange zest emerging with time. The palate is well defined with a twist of bitter lemon on the sapid entry, fine weight and good use of extract. This builds in the mouth and exerts fine grip on the finish. Lots of potential here - excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. Bottled under ScrewCap.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
