Here's a wine of depth and intensity. The 2013 Barolo Cannubi starts relatively slowly with mounting aromas of forest berry, crushed mineral and savory tobacco. It reaches full regime after a few moments in the glass and shows pretty aromatic layering all the while. The finish is dry and firm, although the tannins are already well integrated within the flesh of the wine. Only 3,500 bottles were produced.

Barolo. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Mid to dark ruby with orange tinges. More depth on the nose than most Cannubi wines so far. Focused palate with plenty of fruit perfectly matched by fine, coating tannins. Impressive balance and concentration. (WS)

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
