Tasting Notes

Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 18 Jan 24
The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe is especially good, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, wild berries, rose petals and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with a deep core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish, it's the domaine's finest communal bottling in this vintage.

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Bas de Combes has quite a strong marine influence on the nose, nicely focused with oyster shell and sea spray aromas tincturing the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening and fine tannins. It is lightly spiced with a hint of savory fruit on the finish. Good potential.

Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges, a renowned appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is famous for its robust, structured Pinot Noir wines with rich flavours of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with earthy, spicy notes. Known for firm tannins and full-bodied character, these wines are ideal for ageing. Although lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Saint-Georges and Les Vaucrains produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine Henri Gouges, Domaine Faiveley, and Domaine Robert Chevillon, all celebrated for showcasing the unique terroir with traditional winemaking.
