Tasting Notes

Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 18 Jan 24
The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers unfurls in the glass with aromas of plums, peonies, spices and smoked duck. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with an almost unctuous core of fruit, melting tannins and lovely purity of fruit, it's a real success.

The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 1er Cru offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, still that touch of crushed rock and wild hedgerow. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, that dash of white pepper in situ with a harmonious, supple, almost Vosne-like finish. Very fine. Tasted at the Stannary Wines dinner in London with Charles van Canneyt.

Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges, a renowned appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is famous for its robust, structured Pinot Noir wines with rich flavours of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with earthy, spicy notes. Known for firm tannins and full-bodied character, these wines are ideal for ageing. Although lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Saint-Georges and Les Vaucrains produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine Henri Gouges, Domaine Faiveley, and Domaine Robert Chevillon, all celebrated for showcasing the unique terroir with traditional winemaking.
