Duclaux's 2015 Cote Rotie La Germine is another powerhouse Cote Rotie from this blockbuster vintage. Plum and cassis fruit is framed by hints of vanilla, while the velvety tannins are given focus and length on the finish by crisp acids. The overall effect is one of harmony and balance.

Deep ruby. Heady cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by smoky mineral, olive and spice nuances. Deep-pitched black currant and bitter cherry flavors show an appealing blend of power and finesse, and a subtle mocha flourish adds sweetness on the back half. Shows solid dark fruit thrust on the youthfully tannic finish, which leaves behind notes of candied violet and cracked pepper.

Slightly deeper and darker and sweeter and more spicy than Chana. But also delicious. Tannins curve a fine, carved parenthesis around sweet-spiced red fruit. Less vitality and a tad more weight, but also long and built for the long term. (TC)

Cote-Rotie Vineyard Fine Wine

Cote Rotie

Côte-Rôtie, a distinguished Northern Rhône appellation, is famed for its elegant, complex Syrah-based red wines. The name means "Roasted Slope," reflecting its sun-drenched, steep hillsides. These wines often blend Syrah with a small amount of Viognier, adding floral notes to rich dark fruit flavours like blackberries and plums, with peppery, smoky undertones. Top producers include E. Guigal, Domaine Jamet, and Domaine Côte-Rôtie, all celebrated for crafting some of the region's most revered wines.
